But I know that doing something for Fear Of Missing Out can be stupid in the long run. Regardless, our family rented a neat little cottage in Stinson for Fri & Sat night so I'll enjoy the weekend & scene up there. I guess your "nearly bursting into tears" is really cute. :) Yeah, Keira is bubbly champagne for sure - in a good way!

Bummed to hear you might not run Miwok, but I get it. Injured is not a fun way to go into your first 100K. I hope it works out and you are able to get out there and tear it up on a beautiful course. Regardless, see you there! I had to drive right past them because I didn't have the time. :(Gretchenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01132576974564001603noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20554645.post-16950531282361788342012-04-25T11:13:01.046-07:002012-04-25T11:13:01.046-07:00Gretchen -- that was an awesome report and a spect...Gretchen -- that was an awesome report and a spectacular race ... and I laughed out loud with surprise when you mentioned me. I met Keira last year at the Ohlone and nearly burst into tears when she passed me toward the end, because I was such an emotional and physical mess and I couldn't stand that she was as strong, ebullient and bubbly as a shaken-up champagne bottle popping open. (http://www.therunnerstrip.com/2011/05/ohlone-50k-race-report/)
You are in such great shape -- sounds like you're building up for HR just right! I look forward to seeing you at Miwok. I'll be there but not 100% sure I'm going to run it after all due to troublesome injury; I'll decide next week. I was on the edge of my seat through your race recap as you got closer to the finish; hoping you achieved that under 9:00:00 goal! And you did, which is just awesome! Also, very cool that you mentioned Jorge Maravilla. He's a fellow friend of mine, and the man that introduced me to our local running group here in Napa (the "Vinerunners"); inspiring me to take up running again as well as run longer distances. Haha, and I also had a similar (albeit, shorter) race experience when Jorge was already running in the opposite direction at a local out-and-back 10K. And you make it look pretty easy most of the time too. Speed and effort is all relative, isn't it? You're quite the rock star yourself! As for 70 yo - I had seen quite a few of those and say the same thing, they are the most inspirational out there!
This race has been on my radar for 2 years, and last something came up, then this year it filled up too quick and I missed it. Dang! Next year, for sure. This will be big shoes to fill, but now I have at least a "pie in the sky" goal:)Olgahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00493291972954387932noreply@blogger.com
